Sometimes, I find myself getting a bit... disdainful towards others' opinions about certain things, especially art.
I keep telling myself that things like art are subjective. Furthermore, they are not ESSENTIAL. Whether or not a picture is well-drawn does not decide the life and death of anyone. Yet it's not always easy to let it slide when disagreements happen.
Part of it is that I consider my opinions educated. So, when a screaming fangirl prefers a poorly drawn SD Sesshoumaru over an extremely well done picture of some balding man, I frankly don't respect her opinion that much. I'll "respect" it as in, I'd never try to enforce my view on hers, but I'd be upset if the person who drew the SD Sesshoumaru got paid 30 times more than the artist who drew the balding man.
That's easy to see. Unfortunately, things can get complicated.
Especially when I disagree with peer-level (or more advanced) artists. I watch them go crazy over some picture, and I'm sitting here like, what's so hot about it? The picture is technically good, but there's nothing special to it. Or, the picture has some good ideas, but suffers from fairly noticeable flaws on the technical side.
Alternatively, I'm drooling at this totally awesome picture, and everyone else seems kinda turned off.
I mean, obviously people have different tastes. And when I say "they disagree with me pretty much ALL the times, like, by a landslide," the statement is probably a result of exaggerated/psychologically distorted perception. Still, that certainly is how it feels like as of late. (In case you're wondering, my Shimmering Voices picture (which will be posted soon),is NOT the main reason I'm writing this entry, even though it did contribute a little)
im oficially confused.. some people claims you're an art thief, others dont. I just wonder since Minkei = short of Min Kwon.. the artist's original name...
but it looks weird when you modified some of your stuff using paint to erase the cozypaper.com signature
Yup "Minkei" is a thief. I posted about this over @ the report forums. You'll see what I mean there. All she did was wipe out Keiiii-samas original siggys and copy and paste her info.
